Caring, Compassionate Adoption Center for Cats and Dogs

Welcome to Safe Haven, a caring and compassionate sanctuary for cats and dogs. We are a well-run organization that provides exceptional care for animals awaiting adoption.

Our sanctuary is located on three acres of land about 10 miles east of Las Cruces, Doña Ana County, New Mexico. There are large dog pens, a cattery, isolation units and a play area, all accommodating up to 90 cats and dogs. For additional information call 575-805-5338.

Adoption Policy

Prospective adopters are required to complete a Pet Adoption Application. This can be downloaded here or completed at the sanctuary or off-site location. An adoption counselor will review the application with you and once accepted, and the Pet Agreement signed, you will be on your way home with your new member of the family.

Pet Surrender Policy

Due to our capacity limitations, we are only able to accept animals based on space availability. We do not accept pets exhibiting aggressive behavior, who are feral or in apparent poor health. We require that surrenders be pre-coordinated by telephone with the sanctuary. Please call (575) 805-5338 or (575) 527-4544 prior to bringing an animal to Safe Haven to see if we have availability and if we will be able to accept your pet. Please understand that if we do accept your animal, we reserve the right to request a donation to cover the partial cost of care and placement of your pet.
